We are proud to say that 100% of every dollar goes to the animals and their care, as all individuals associated with this organization are volunteer-based. Additionally, all services to the public are 100% FREE. Help us continue the work we started....and let's get more dogs into schools and child care facilities to help children grow.
Our Mission
Bear & Friends rescues unwanted dogs from pounds and shelters to give them the opportunity to find their purpose in life through work with young children. Rescued dogs can bring joy, peace, and companionship to humans of all ages, but at Bear & Friends we focus on children. Children oftentimes view dogs as creatures that are safe and non-threatening; therefore, they feel free to calm down, relax, read, chat, and share their feelings freely. Dogs neither judge nor criticize.....they only know love and loyalty, thus utilizing a dog in an early learning program is a first step in helping children increase their social and emotional acuity and become confident, happy, caring, loving, and adventurous individuals. Whether a dog is special needs, elderly, or in need of medical attention, it will always have a home at Bear & Friends and a place in the heart of young children.
